This album is an eclectic mix of Jazz , Latin and R&B tunes
which is simply an honest reflection of me and my musical journey
as a musician, a listener and as a woman of age.
I heard this song on the radio and taped it. I love ironies.
‘You’re Drivin’ Me Crazy’ is a cute, ironic, nutsy expression
Of….
My love for Latin is showcased in ‘Down in Rio’, written by
a talented friend Phil Morrison from his album ‘Sea Island Blues’
Everything is rhythm in the Carribean. I’ve seen it, felt it, tasted it.
I …love it ! Steve Thornton on percussion made me live it.
‘Life Inside Me ‘ is a mother’s dialogue with her unborn child.
After a series of miscarriages, I wrote this with Dodong Jumawan
to express the positive side of motherhood. Being Gerard’s mom
is the most wonderful experience. Especially dedicated to
Nanay, Claudina Wang and all the mothers in the world .
I’ve kept the lyrics for this song and ‘Give Me a Reason Why’
for years but it seemed to keep calling me….
I’ve always loved Dinah Washington. Her passion, her attitude,
her phrasing in ‘I Wanna be Loved’ moved me so much, I had to
do it differently –
Sometimes non-existent things, like hidden dreams, fantasies
and desires make sense when you make it into a song.
‘Nobody Knows’ came to me in the middle of the night and
the lyrics just fell in place .
So here I go again. This time ‘Never Existed Before’ pays my
respect to one of the greatest vocalist/songwriter
Minnnie Riperton.
‘Love is everywhere’ showcases my big band &
vocal group influences
There are tunes that just wont go away from your head
thus ‘To Swing About’ was born.
It’s my treasure that I will always cherish forever.
